Lindsey and Brad’s Wedding at St. Luke’s Chapel and the Wickliffe House in Charleston, SC
May 29, 2009
Update: The Album Predesign has been completed and posted! Check it out!
Lindsey and Brad had an earlier wedding then we are typically used to around here, and a nice, bright reception at the Wickliffe House, so our collections from this event have a bright and cheerful mood to them. This is pleasant for a bit of change since sometimes our images can be a little ‘artsy moody’.
And bright matches the couple in this case. Lindsey is a beauty in mood and in charisma, and Brad has a good humor and an easy smile.
St. Luke’s Chapel, of course is one of our favorite ceremony sites, and paired with the neighboring Wickliffe House, it is a perfect combination. Very Charleston, very convenient.

This was a fun wedding to be a part of. Elyn of A Charleston Event made sure that the day was well paced and planned out, with plenty of time before hand and afterwards for portraits, time which I think we used well. Katie has such a classic look that we got to explore a bit at the groom’s family home just down the street from the reception facility.
The Ruins itself is a very interesting place for a wedding reception with lots of porch space and a beautiful interior.

Rebecca and Jason were very willing to take full advantage of the many opportunities that Magnolia Gardens presents for wedding photography. The ceremony was held on the carriage house lawn, but we were able to do a first glance on the red bridge near the conservatory, and then take a walk around the gardens to visit some of my favorite spots for pictures, so we collected an eclectic variety of images from all over the gardens.
This was a talented and affectionate group. Mell and I were honored to be a part of it.

Melanie & Steve’s Folly Beach Wedding!

The weather couldn’t decide what it wanted to do…but it didn’t stop Melanie & Steve from having a beautiful wedding anyway! (And thanks to the clouds and breezy conditions, the photos ended up being all the more beautiful, thankyouverymuch!)
Melanie & Steve are such a sweet couple, and I am so honored to have been a part of their intimate beach wedding! Both the bride and the groom work for the Cleveland Browns (that is how they met…isn’t that cool?!) Melanie’s family is from Georgia, and Steve’s family is from Pennsylvania, they decided that Charleston would be a great spot for their destination beach wedding.
Since their wedding was in the sand, I kicked off my sandals…and successfully didn’t put them back on until I was leaving their wedding. And me being the kind of girl who delights in the small things, I am thrilled to be able to say that I shot almost their entire wedding barefoot. Awesomeness!
So…..here are a few of my favorites! It was hard to choose…so stay tuned for their album design to be posted in the next couple of weeks to see the rest!

Saturday, May 23rd, I had the honor and pleasure of photographing the wedding and reception of Lauren & Michael. (Talk about one cute couple!!!!)
It’s always wonderful to see such loving and supportive families spend the day full of joy right along with the bride and groom. Lauren & Mike are SO in love…so sweet on each other!
Their wedding took place at New Beginnings Church on James Island, and their reception was at a country club in Charleston. It has all the photogenic scenery anyone could ever want…green grass, tall oaks, spanish moss, marsh views…add in a couple smiling newlyweds and you have one happy photographer!
Here are a few of my favorites so far, but stay tuned for their full album design that will be posted soon!

Photography at Riverbanks Botanical Gardens in Columbia is so beautiful that it’s both easy, and hard to photograph. On one hand, how can you go wrong? Pick a spot and shoot. On the other hand, there are a thousand gorgeous spots! Where do you start? Fortunately, Amy planned well for this and allocated PLENTY of time for photographs, opting to do a first glance so they could do pictures ahead of time (which I highly, highly recommend both as a photographer, and as a groom who did it himself).
This group was fun, gracious, flexible, and happy. And more than that, they are USC Gamecock fans, and COCKY made a special appearance near the end of the evening! We Hail Thee, Carolina!

Julie and Matt’s wedding at Trinity United Methodist Church and the Francis Marion Hotel

I knew from the moment I met Julie & Matt that their wedding was going to be a fun one! They are so in love….so add in their animated personalities and my mad camera skillz (yah, I said it) and that makes it really hard for me to pick my favorite of their wedding photos to show you in this blog, haha!
But I know I have to at least start with a few of my favorites from Julie’s bridal session. When I asked her what kind of bridal portrait she wanted most, she said “different!” Well, that I can do! Look at this hotness:

Another thing I love very, very much….shoes! Julie’s wedding shoes were fahhhbulous and I have to give the girl crazy kudos for being so graceful in 4½ inch heels!

The groomsmen were relaxed, easygoing and lots of fun. They let me talk them into a jump shot in front of Trinity United Methodist (a church I’ve hoped to shoot a wedding in for, um, about 3 years now!)

The bridesmaids….all TEN of them….were all crazy gorgeous and full of personality!

Here’s a sneak peak inside of Trinity United Methodist during the ceremony:

And the awesomely huge wooden door at the front of the church, behind the huge columns facing Meeting Street…

In the back of the church, there was this awesome frosted glass door, and the sunlight was beaming through….I had this shot in my mind all day and I couldn’t wait to pull it off! ![]()

Julie & Matt hired a bagpiper to process the wedding guests from the church to the Francis Marion Hotel for cocktail hour…such a neat idea!

And I won’t tell you where I took these shots…but I’ve always wanted to talk a bride and groom into taking photos in this alleyway with me!

On to the Francis Marion for the reception. They hired The Breakfast Club (80s cover band) to play….and WOAH they are amazing!!!!

They also gave me plenty of great photo ops during the cake cutting…it was all out war I tell ya!

Julie is my first ever bride to do the SPLITS in her wedding dress at her reception! How cool is she for this?

Many of her friends and bridesmaids were also former gymnasts and college cheerleaders, so they wanted a group splits shot….well….I took the one on top and then joined in the group, and Heather got a great pic of me doing the splits with the group, haha!!!!

One last shot of Julie and Matt with the band at the very end of the night. For more info on the band check out their website, http://www.thebreakfastclub.com/

Kandace and Chad’s wedding at Old St. Andrew’s Parish Church and Magnolia Plantation and Gardens!

Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Hamilton!

Kandace and Chad were married Friday, May 15th at Old St. Andrew’s Parish Church. This was my first time shooting a wedding inside this church and I totally adore it! Inside, I love the big arched windows, tall ceilings and tile floors. Outdoors surrounding the chapel are tall trees and lots of spanish moss. So beautiful! Also, I am in LOVE with Kandace’s flower choice of blue orchids in her bouquet! It’s so different and it really made her photos pop!
Though the rain earlier in the day gave us a scare, it didn’t hold us back from taking beautiful pictures. (Of course, you know how much I love Magnolia Plantation and Gardens!)
Here is a sneak peak of *just a few* of my favorites so far.

Happy Mother’s Day!
May 10, 2009
Just wanted to write a quick blog to say HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to all moms! To all the sacrifice they’ve made for us, that they continue to make for us…
Especially….my wonderful Mom. She accompanied me on a family photoshoot a few weeks ago, and I took the opportunity to snap a few cute pics of her.
I love you, Mom!
