It’s encouraging to see a Godly couple with a Godly family come together for a Godly and happy ceremony. This wedding was a joy to be a part of. Sunrise Presbyterian has very appealing architecture and lighting, and the Historic Rice Mill Building is has amazing beautiful textures, an evocative floor-plan, and a stunning location. The reception was a blast and people just had so much fun. I can’t say enough good things about the whole experience, but I hope the pictures make up for it. Enjoy!

Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church is one of the prettiest  sanctuaries in Charleston.  It’s grand with a modern feel, and beautiful light.  At this wedding I discovered the confessional room that they have near the front which has wonderfully textured red walls and stained glass.  A perfect room for portraiture which we took full advantage of :)

I loved the parents at this event.  Everyone was so happy for Mark and Rebecca, and it was a blessing to witness.   Oh, and Mark’s niece and nephew were adorably photogenic and I took WAY too many pictures of them :)

Flower Girl and Rings

This was my first time back to Alhambra Hall in several years.  I love going back to a location that is very familiar, but with a more experienced and creative eye.  Alhambra Hall is simple, but with  a surprising variety of lighting and scene that provided plenty of opportunities  of portraits.
Nicole and David’s families were very sweet, and you could easily see how happy everyone was for the couple.  Beautiful wedding.

Regal Catering did a fantastic job with the catering (as usual!), and Lee Edwards Entertainment provided DJ services.   Both are companies that we highly recommend.

Courtney and Phil are old friends, so I was very happy that we were able to be a part of their day.  The rehearsal dinner was actually really cool with a harbor cruise on the Sea Breeze.  Pizza and Beer made it informal and fun, and I think it was a big success.

Courtney is a blast, and was very insistent that everyone have a LOT of fun (thus the silly glasses :) .  I’ve known Phil for about 5 years.  He’s a likable, genuine and level-headed guy.   They’re a good match.

Yet another wonderfully musical wedding! (Justin is the new Director of Choral Activities at Clemson University!)

Leah & Justin’s wedding day was absolutely wonderful from start to finish! I was thrilled to get to shoot at the French Huguenot Church (44 Queen St. in the historic district). What a gorgeous place…even the getting-ready rooms were so old-Charleston, just amazing!

Even the weather cooperated with us. The only spot of rain was during the ceremony time! As soon as the ceremony was over, the rain stopped. It was perfect!

The Confederate Home is another one of my favorite downtown Charleston venues. This was my first time shooting there since their renovations and WOW they did an amazing job!

And though I usually only post about ten to fifteen favorites from a wedding….it was too hard for me to choose from these, so Leah and Justin’s wedding gets 22 in their sneak peek! Stay tuned soon for their full album design to be posted in about a week!

On Saturday, July 11th, we traveled the 2 hours south to the Hilton Oceanfront Resort on Hilton Head Island to shoot Amy and Shawn’s beach wedding!

What a super neat couple these two are! They are the definition of opposites attracting and they are a joy to be around. The previous Thursday, I had the pleasure of meeting up with them in downtown Charleston for a morning engagement session, and then Amy put on her dress for a quick bridal session!

Amy and Shawn’s backstory is so neat that I just have to share….they were married 1 year ago in Africa on a mountaintop overlooking Lake Malawi. It was a very small, intimate wedding that neither family was able to attend, so they planned this as their special American wedding to again say their vows, this time in front of their family and close friends. It was so sweet to see that, even after their first year of marriage, how undoubtedly crazy in love they are with each other!

The Hilton Oceanfront Resort is a gorgeous place for a dream beach wedding! The wedding coordinator there, Allison, was so sweet and was there to help the group every step of the way…which is especially wonderful for brides who are planning destination weddings like Amy did!

Here are a few of my favorites from Amy and Shawn’s engagement, bridal session and wedding day:

This wedding hit the all-time maximum of ‘pictures shot’.  This was such a photogenic wedding with so many great places and pretty people and interesting lighting that I just couldn’t help myself–I set the camera to semiautomatic and went Rambo.  It paid off though.   We landed on a manageable number of pictures, but I am VERY proud of this collection–especially with the crowning shots with the FOB’s 59 ‘Vet that Les and Allyson left in.  (We may have a new background for the website!!)

What a wonderful couple and fun group of family and friends! Emily and Eric’s wedding was nothing short of top notch!

Emily & Eric are undoubtedly the kind of couple people can refer to as “the perfect couple”. So sweet, so in love, and so happy with each other. Their love (and career choice) in music was a poignant theme in their wedding ceremony…including a horn ensemble, a clarinet duet, euphonium solo and a performance by a choir from Wando High School!

Here are a few of my favorites from their day…more will be posted soon!

I had a great time with Jennifer and Joey for their engagement session last week! They are such a fun-loving couple, and we had a blast chatting it up and walking a few of my favorite back alleyways in the historic district!

Here are a few of our favorites from their session. Soon I will be posting an album design for their engagement book!

A few weeks ago, I (Valerie) arrived on Folly Beach for Katie & Neil’s engagement session (“e-session”) just in time for the big clouds to roll in and the rain to start coming down right as we started.

What ROCKS about Katie and Neil is….they didn’t let that stop them! They were all smiles, and all of our positive attitudes combined, we took some killer shots! Unfortunately, the rain soon came down WAY too hard to continue outdoors, but we gave it everything we had during the time we had and took some amazing shots…and we had SO much fun laughing about it!

Here are my two favorites….if you look closely, you can see the rain drops in both of these! :-)
